Emotions on Display 2023 | Design Competition Submission
The museum is designed with a deliberate intention to harness our inherent ability to perceive and interact with the environment, placing a significant emphasis on engaging both sight and touch. By prioritizing these primal senses, the museum taps into the core aspects of the human experience, recognizing the profound impact that sight and touch can have on emotional engagement. To better visualize and understand the relationship between the museum and the human psyche, the ABC-12 model was born.
“Our senses are indeed our doors and windows on this world, in a very real sense the key to unlocking the meaning and the wellspring of creativity.”
- Jean Houston
As visitors traverse through the myriad spaces, ranging from intimate corridors to expansive halls, the intentional design aims to cultivate a heightened sense of connection, understanding, and emotional responsiveness. In this symbiotic dance between architecture and the senses, the museum transforms the very act of exploration into a deeply enriching and emotionally resonant journey.
“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” — T.S. Eliot
